The 2018 Akron Safety Town is open to children who reside in the City of Akron and who are entering kindergarten or first grade in fall 2018. This is a free, fun and hands-on educational program designed to teach children about bicycle, bus, fire, playground, gun, dog, poison, stranger-danger, calling 911, how to cross the street, and other safety issues. The sessions run for one week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon; and each child will receive an Akron Safety Town T-shirt and a bicycle helmet. Also, breakfast will be provided each day at 8:30 a.m. To register, complete the forms; and return them to your child's school (or mail to Akron After School, 65 Steiner Ave., Akron, OH 44301). Following are the two Akron Safety Town sessions:
  • June 18-22, Forest Hill CLC (850 Damon St.)
  • June 25-29, King CLC (805 Memorial Parkway)
